Today is William Penn’s birthday, 1644. He is the founder of Pennsylvania. This statue of him sits on City Hall, Philadelphia. He is looking towards the Delaware River, where he landed in the New World.

That was 221 years ago. Eleven years earlier the Declaration of Independence was signed in the same building.
