Companion to yesterday’s photograph. Eakins Oval, Benjamin Franklin Parkway on the Monument steps - night view of the Philadelphia Museum of Art at around 1:50 AM, December 4, 2008. As you can see by the scaffolding, they are renovating the building. I love the way the bronze sculpture of the stag is looking at the tree.

Eakins Oval, Benjamin Franklin Parkway, towards Center City - December 4, 2008 (2:00 AM)
Across the street from the Philadelphia Art Museum. Foreground is a section of the Washington Monument by Rudolf Siemering. The monument/fountain is bronze and granite. The artwork was originally dedicated and installed in 1897 at the Green Street entrance to Fairmount Park. In 1928, the monument was relocated to its current location.
