Portrait of a Cheerio

And now for something a little different. I was home, stuck in the house (It was raining, although you can get some really good photographs on a rainy day, believe it or not. I just wasn’t feeling that adventurous). A thought popped in my head, take a picture of a cheerio. How weird is that? I love macro photography (taking closeup photographs of small objects). The tea strainer just happened to be in a drawer nearby. The hard part, was getting the cheerio to stand up…
Let me know what you think.
Last time I did this sort of thing was Wood Screw with Satin Sash, if you are interested.

“Beware the Ides of March”
The Ides of March is celebrated every year by the Rome Hash House Harriers with a toga run in the streets of Rome, in the same place where Julius Caesar was killed.

Tabletop, South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – March 3, 2010
Well, I have had such great response from my flower photographs, I decided to shoot a new one. Most of the others were actually shot in 2002.
My wife, Arlene, bought a bunch of Daffodil stems last week. Sitting in a vase in the kitchen for several days, they started to bloom and caught my eye.
Technical alert: I used my macro lens at a small aperture to get maximum depth of field, however, when you are that close the area of focus is less than a quarter inch. I wanted two areas sharp, so I refocused and took a second photograph. I then combined the two in Photoshop.
Enjoy.

Several people have suggested I produce notecard sets and calendars. What do you think?
