Graphic vector output

Vector output is in the form of paths (mathmatical line descriptions). Vector graphics are resolution independent (they have no pixel of dots per inch until output). The computer tells the output device what resolution to use at time of actual output.

This process of converting vector data to output resolution is called "RIP"ing. RIP stands for Raster Image Processor. The most popular RIP is Adobe Postscript.
